Welcome to the Carbon Co-op tool library!

As a Carbon Co-op member you can borrow any of these devices from our library at no extra cost. These items can either be collected from the Carbon Co-op office, or we can arrange for them to be sent out to you. We have also created this collection of resources on use of the tools.

How do I get started?

1. Register for the Carbon Co-op tool library. At the top right hand side of the page, you can register for our tool library. Here you will be assigned a temporary membership which will be manually confirmed and upgraded to a Carbon Co-op membership once checked against our database. However, you should be able to reserve tools immediately, without waiting for confirmation.
   
2. Reserve the tools that you want to borrow. Find the tools you want to borrow through the search bar at the top, or the menu at the left hand side of this page, then use the calendar to select a loan period. We lend out tools for a maximum of 7 days with a 2 day maintenance period in between. This maintenance period helps prevent delays and allows for us to ensure that all tools are kept in the best working order.
3. Authorise your deposit. We will send you a Swikly deposit request when confirming your reservation. This is a non debited deposit and is in case of any major issues regarding the loan. The deposit amount required will depend on the item being borrowed.
4. Collect your item or wait for it to arrive in the post. We will notify you when the item has been sent out, and contact you if there are any issues with collection.
5. Return the item by the required return date. Please ensure that the item is back with us before the end of your loan period, so we can pass it on to other members. If you are posting it back, please make sure it will arrive before the required date, and is adequately covered in the event of loss or damage.
   

How do I borrow items if I don't live in Greater Manchester?

When making your reservation make sure to select delivery as your preferred method to receive the items. After confirming the reservation and deposit we will send them out to you for free. We only ask that you make sure that the items are returned to us by the end of your loan period, so we can lend them out to the next person. You should also ensure your chosen method of delivery has adequate cover for the item in the event of loss. This will prevent us having to claim your deposit.
